Publishing Company 2K Games and Firaxis Games Studios unexpectedly announced the game Chimera Squad, based on the XCOM universe. The commercial was published on April 14 on the franchise’s YouTube channel.
It is noted that the feature of the game was the lack of a procedural generation mechanism, the developers themselves created in-game content. The action of Chimera Squad takes place in a certain City-31, in the center of the story there are 11 members of a detachment formed of people and aliens.
The game takes place five years after those that were shown in XCOM 2: War of the Chosen. The developers said that gamers are waiting for a completely different pace of the game process, and the mechanics of the game, which determines the order of actions of the characters and their opponents, will be similar to Dungeons & Dragons. Firaxis Games called this system Interleaved Turns.
Everyone can already pre-order the game on the Steam service, now it can be purchased for 499.5 rubles. The release of Chimera Squad is scheduled for April 24, 2020.
XCOM 2: War of the Chosen was the last game before Chimera Squad, released as part of the XCOM universe (released August 29, 2017). It was an addition to XCOM 2, which was released on February 5, 2016.
